Install
MINERVA Space Echo runs on macOS 11 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, as an Audio Unit and a VST3. It is aimed at Ableton Live but works in any AU or VST3 host.
Download
Tagged versions are published on the Releases page. For the newest build from any branch, open the repository’s Actions tab, pick a green build run and download the MinervaSpaceEcho-macOS artifact (you need to be signed in to GitHub).
Either way you get two files:
| File | Use it to |
|---|---|
MinervaSpaceEcho-<version>-macOS.pkg |
Install the AU and VST3 into /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins (you can untick either). |
MinervaSpaceEcho-<version>-macOS.zip |
Copy the plug-in bundles by hand. |
With the installer
Double-click the .pkg and follow the steps.
Builds that aren’t signed with an Apple Developer ID are blocked the first time. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway, then run the installer again.
By hand
Unzip the .zip, then in Terminal, from the unzipped folder:
cp -R "MINERVA Space Echo.component" ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
cp -R "MINERVA Space Echo.vst3" ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
# Remove the download quarantine (needed for builds without Developer ID signing):
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/"MINERVA Space Echo.component"
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/"MINERVA Space Echo.vst3"Set up Live
- Live → Settings → Plug-Ins.
- Turn on Use Audio Units v2 and/or Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders.
- Click Rescan.
- In the browser, under Plug-Ins → CrumpLab, you’ll find MINERVA Space Echo.
They sound identical. Use the VST3 if you want to trigger actions with MIDI notes from a clip (MIDI and automation); hosts don’t send notes to AU audio effects. Everything else, including MIDI-mapping the parameters, works in both.
Build it yourself
You need Xcode’s command-line tools and CMake 3.22 or later (brew install cmake ninja):
git clone https://github.com/CrumpLab/MinervaSpaceEcho.git
cd MinervaSpaceEcho
cmake -S . -B build -G Ninja -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DMSE_COPY_PLUGIN_AFTER_BUILD=ON
cmake --build build
ctest --test-dir buildThe first configure downloads JUCE and Catch2. MSE_COPY_PLUGIN_AFTER_BUILD=ON installs the AU and VST3 into ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins for you. See Development for more.
Uninstall
Delete MINERVA Space Echo.component from /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (or ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components) and MINERVA Space Echo.vst3 from the matching VST3 folder. Your presets and saved memories are in ~/Music/MINERVA Space Echo.
